May 5, 2017 Alexa Good Morning (Weekly Review)

This Week, we've taken a wild ride:

 

Yesterday was Star Wars Day (May the Fourth be with you)




 

We listened to James Brown sing, "I Feel Good".


 

We looked at an expensive painting called "The Scream" by Edvard Munch.


 

We thought about how and why people celebrate May Day on May 1st. 

What will Alexa think of next?  Goodness only knows!

Good Morning! Pasta the spaghetti and let's get fusilli because today is National Pasta Day! To celebrate I’ve learned a lot of new recipes for you to noodle on. Pasta la vista baby! Alexa Pasta Worksheet Pasta includes many types of noodles  (oodles of noodles!) Noodling around is another way of saying "playfully thinking about", usually with some sort of idea.  An example:  "I was just noodling around with the thought of swimming to Hawaii, I wonder how long it would take!" Alexa uses the phrase "Pasta la vista, baby!"  which is a one-off joke (a joke that takes a familiar phrase and changes one letter humorously) of Arnold Schwarzenegger when he played in the movie, Terminator 2.  Can you catch the other one-off joke in Alexa's speech today? Good morning! It's Dictionary Day, which honors the father of the American dictionary, Noah Webster. To satisfy your inner word nerd, ask me for the longest word in the English language. And in case you're wondering -- it won't fit on a Scrabble board!  Dictionary Day Worksheet A dictionary is a book about words.  What's your favorite word?  Noah Webster wrote the first modern dictionary.  Do you think he is still living?
