Alexa Good Morning!   Good morning! Fifty-five years ago today, construction began on the tallest arch in the world, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. As it was built, if either leg had been off by just one-sixty-fourth of an inch, the two sides of the arch wouldn't have met, and a tiny error would've turned monumental. Gateway Artch Worksheet  

January 25 2018 Alexa Good Morning (Queen Victoria's Wedding March)

Good morning. On this day in 1858, the Wedding March by Felix Mendelssohn was popularized by Queen Victoria. Since then, countless brides have walked down the aisle to the tune though I think I would prefer something a little more upbeat. "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" by Beyonce, perhaps? Queen Victoria's Wedding March    Alexa Questions: Having done this lesson with several students, in my opinion, it's ok to let them pick "Queen Victoria" as the main topic.  Sure, with more advanced students, I would ask them questions to lead them onto "The Wedding March", but since we are asking my newer and more impaired students to pick information out of the air and develop strategies for answering questions and expand their syntax and writing skills, I don't hassle them too much on the fine points of "main idea", rememer that was something your general education classroom teachers kept ref...

  Good morning! January babies have garnet for their birthstone. Although people typically think of garnet as being a burgundy red, the gem actually comes in a rainbow of colors.
